DEAL/LONDON WEEK

WED. Sept 23
After delivering cat to kennel previous evening, we (sorry - Mary) drove us down to Deal
Called in on Alison, and saw Jasmine, and the new addition, Adele.

THURS. Sept 24
Went to Canterbury. "Did" the Cathedral for the first time in years. Very expensive - they must be doing well! Went up as far as the old College of Art (now part of University) and the old Joe De Marco's! Not very impressed with what has been done in Canterbury.
Went out to Dinner with Barbara, Linda and Trevor - a great evening.

FRI, Sept 25
Saw Susie and family
Entertained Ted and Wendy to a meal in the evening - a journey into the unknown for us relative to the kitchen and equipment in the flat. Success.

SAT. Sept 26
To London by train - big adventure - what, no car? Train went to Victoria instead of Waterloo as planned, but we overcame! Taxi to hotel - Novotel opposite Lambeth Palace -brilliant.
The Palace not open to the public - that had been the week before!! However, Ian and Alex met us at the hotel and we "did" the National Garden Museum which was fascinating. We also walked along the side of the Thames etc., and the four of us went to Dinner in the evening at the "Three Stags", or was it Two Stags. A Gastro-Pub and excellent. Got stuffed!

SUN Sept 27
Ian came to hotel and we went along Millbank, past the Millennium Pier, to Tate Britain to see the new Turner exhibition - absolutely superb in content and presentation but quite busy. Went to Ian and Alex's in the afternoon, where Alex had been preparing a super meal for us. Then back to Charing Cross to get train back to Deal

MON Sept 28
Clearing up and Packing. Telephoning various friends. Visited Dover Castle -saw the new exhibition. All very impressive. Brief visit to Susie & Kevin

TUE Sept 29
Drive back to Pickering. Collected Cat! All OK

ANNS B/DAY ACTIVITIES ETC

FRIDAY August 28

Bill Webb arrived at his cottage near Hutton-le-Hole. (Note: Thats home of Ryedale Folk Museum in case anyone doesn't know.)

This was Ann Gabriel's Birthday.

David Mynot, Paul Webb, Bill Webb, Paul Gabriel and I attended her Line Dance Birthday Party Social at Thornton-le-Dale Hall, where we were hypnotised spectators, especially at the spectacle of Ann and Mary's dancing activities!!

It was a great relief to me to see her Birthday Cake finally in-situ, after what seemed to be six months of preparation which had dominated life in this household!!

SATURDAY August 29

Kevin, Susie, Zac and Josh arrived at their birthday residence in Piackering.

Bill Webb and I collected Ian Mynot from the railway station in Malton.

We loaded up provisions etc., to take to Staxton for the next party, including the Birthday Cake and its various appendages.

SUNDAY August 30

Ann's Birthday Lunch at Staxton Village Hall. Great Family Fun!!

Present were Ann, Paul Gabriel, Paul Webb, Anya Gabriel, Ian & Tina Webb
